Galileo FAQs

Q How do I get an answer to urgent questions outside UK office hours ?
A Ring the out of hours support line on 0831880360, or a the US service number.

Q I have a low frequency hum on some or all outputs, either all the time or for some part of the day, what is the probable cause ?
A It sounds as if the large capacitors in the power supply are failing and need replacing. As a temporary work round we suggest reducing the DC rail voltages by 1V, as this reduces headroom, we suggest you use this only as a way to finish a session, while waiting for replacement parts to arrive. Note this does not apply to switch mode type power supplies.

Q Why is adjusting the Virtual Dynamics settings on my console not affecting the output sound ?
A Either the settings for Dynamics control have not been set in the "G" page, or your faders are operating in "isolate" mode.

Q Why is my Virtual Dynamic and/or TRG hardware not being found after my computer has been (a) repaired, or (b) switched off for a long time ?
A In (a) the motherboard defaults in the BIOS have been changed causing LPT1 or one of the COM ports to be wrongly set (refer to your manual for phone for the correct BIOS settings), in the case of (b) it is likely that the CMOS battery needs replacing.

Q Why are my Virtual Dynamics not resetting properly or logging on in an intermittent fashion ?
A Check the power rail 5V at the VD card, if necessary re-trim at the power supply to give no less than 5V and no more than 5.2V on all VD cards.

Q Why when I press a switch on my Rembrandt or Galileo channel do all or some of the LED's relating to other switches on that channel go out ?
A The LED associated with the pressed switch is broken, or a dry joint has developed, try re-soldering the joints or replacing the LED.

Q Why when I try to "make new title" in Supertrue does it have the same name and settings as my previous title ?
A When the "make new title" option is selected all the title info, VD settings etc. that is currently loaded in memory are saved in the new title. You should select "clear title" first before entering new information, then finally select "make new title".

Q Why when I press the AFL buttons on my Rembrandt or Galileo Aux masters can I hear nothing, when I know that signal is reaching my FX devices ?
A The AFL/PFL switch on the master panel is set to PFL. As the Aux masters only send AFL you need to change the setting of this control.

Q When I playback my mix all the mutes suddenly come on when I did not select them, why is this ?
A You have selected a "write to end" on the first pass.

Q Can I run my Amek software under a DOS session in Windows95 ?
A No, at present all our software requires too many resources for this to work reliably.

Q When I try to use more than 14 patches in VFX, my system locks up and crashes, why is this ?
A You are using the earliest version of the software, download the newer version from the Website. (go to download page.)
