Pixel snowflake Mk3

Due to the amount of failed ws2812b pixels, the new snowflakes will use ws2811 12v strips. This will result in a lower resolution element but with increased reliability - I hope.

The snowflake is basically the same as the icicles and starburst in construction. I have used white pvc electrical trunking cut into strips the same width as the square silicone tubing. Three pieces were used to form the main six spokes and super glued in the middle. 12 smaller pieces of pvc were glued to the back of these spokes to form the snowflake wings. A further 12 small pieces of pvc will form the centre section also.

The second image shows the connections to the extra led's in the wings. A small slit was made in the main strip of silicone tubing to solder on the extra wires for the wings.

All of the connections are made using enameled copper wire from an old transformer. All of the data wires are connected on the front of the snowflake (image 3). The power wires are all brought around to the back and connected there (image 4). Low modulus neutral curing silicone sealant is used to seal the ends, wing junctions and also the centre of the tubing.
