Pixel star silhouette
The basic idea of the star silhouette is to sandwich a numbers of WS2812 leds between two sheets of perspex. The two sheets were temporarily stuck together with double sided tape whilst being cut so that both shapes would be identical. The top sheet of perspex was sanded on both faces with fine sandpaper to help diffuse the light.
The leds were cut off a strip into individual leds. These were then super-glued onto the back sheet of perspex. Enameled wire unwound from an old transformer was used to connect all power and data within the silhouette. Cat5 cable has been used to link this element to the main power buss on my display.
The final step is to use clear silicone sealant to seal all around the edge of the silhouette. Job done.
